Our History

Hayes Large has been providing superior client service since 1922. Founder John Hunter’s philosophy was that to succeed, we have to understand and believe in our client’s mission.

From hosting one of the first national school design conferences in 1938, to advising university students in the international Solar Decathlon, we have long understood that we become better designers by learning from our clients and the world around us.

For generations, Hayes Large has offered national-caliber design talent with the personal attention of a local firm. We’ve built enduring relationships with clients, some in excess of 80 years. We take great pride in renewing community landmarks we designed more than half a century earlier.

Technology is changing the way we design in exciting ways. We’ve moved from pencils, triangles and slide rules, to CAD and BIM technology. While virtual architecture gives us new tools to share a project’s vision, our long-term perspective helps us to distinguish passing fads from deeper trends.
